It’s been an incredibly inspiring three days working closely with women living with disabilities in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, as we delivered a comprehensive training program aimed at strengthening their small-scale businesses.

This initiative focused on practical and impactful skills, including:

  • Improving business visibility through social media
  • Basic accounting and financial literacy
  • Effective customer service strategies
  • Business growth and sustainability planning

The training was made possible through the generous support of the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) with funding and backing from Mastercard Foundation. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to support local women entrepreneurs who show incredible strength, resilience, patience, and resourcefulness in the face of challenges.

These are qualities worth celebrating and emulating across society.

Why Inclusion Matters

This program is a powerful reminder that people with disabilities—especially women—have enormous potential when given the right tools, training, and opportunities. However, they remain among the most underserved and underrepresented in development conversations.

Inclusiveness must be at the core of all programs.
We urge all stakeholders, institutions, and community leaders to prioritize accessibility, representation, and support for persons with disabilities in every economic and social initiative.

Final Note

These women are not just beneficiaries—they are innovators, leaders, and agents of change. Let’s continue to #LeaveNoOneBehind as we build more inclusive and sustainable communities.
